<READ>Portrait photography is undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated disciplines. You have to be quite sensitive to what you are showing and one should always try to tell the truth. People see through your eyes and expect to see the truth, a fact the tabloid press totally forgets or ignores. Being shy is also not very helpful in capturing the perfect image. After all the years I have been engaged in shooting portraits, creating a good mood on the set proved the far more important thing than releasing the shutter on the camera. This was made very clear to me when I was pointing the lens in front of Gottfried Hellnwein's face. His first words to me where also a very helpful advice: "Don't use a wide lens! They always make people look like frogs." How true! Thank you Mr. Helnwein!

<READ>'Wollen sie mit mir streiten ... ?' got published in the austrian magazin 'Datum'. The album shows discussions between Michael Fleischhacker and popular representatives from the field of politics, media and economy. All men and women, who are very smart talkers, were highly concentrated not to make a single mistake during the discussions. The scene appeared to me more like a chess game with unpredictable outcome ahead. Arguing on such a skilled verbal level contained a high amount of entertainment to me.

<READ>These Images where taken for a reportage on the funeral business in Austria. I know that many people who get in touch with the subject are feeling uncomfortable. But when I had the opportunity to get a closer l look behind the final curtain, the complete opposite appeared to me. Sure, when you are surrounded by numerous coffins and look into a bucket of artificial hip joints, it won‘t put a smile on your face, but the moment when the chamber door opens and the combustions starts is a truly lasting memory I don‘t want to miss. No gruesome impressions whatsoever. It‘s just a graceful way to leave for good.

<READ>When traveling to Grado, Italy, for a photo reportage on Austria’s nearest access to Sea, a lot of childhood memories flashed back to me. Accompanied by my mother, the journey became an even more pleasant walk down memory lane to a time when we were sailing around the Grado laguna on the boat of my stepfather. Rainer Novak, Chief Editor of 'Die Presse' wrote an remarkable essay which got published in 'Datum' magazine. The full story and can be read here. Unser Platz am Wasser. He draws a fine depiction of the enchanting scenery around town, and strolling on the boardwalk people-watching has provided an amusing insight into the Austrian soul.

<READ>When asked by our friend 'Kurt', who was moving flat at the time, to capture some pictures of his flat in vienna, I had no idea what to expect. Outré artistic synthesis! When going through all the wonderful bits and pieces around the flat, we accidentally stumbled across those extravagant and flamboyantly made costumes which he mostly tailored himself and which he was showing off at wild, unleashed parties in Viennese society during the 1970s' long before the existence of Life Ball. Maybe some pieces didn't fit so well like they once did but the way he was performing them in front of the camera was really mind-blowing and terrific. The only thing we could not figure out was the reason why he insisted to wear this scruffy wig, although there were plenty better ones to choose from. It must have been some sentimental memory stuck to this bunch of frizzy matted felt. Who knows?
